I don't understand the mechanism behind treating milk w/ lactase drops for a
cow's milk protein problem. Yes -- lactase drops (if you can get them) work
beautifully for a mom w/ oversupply whose baby is getting too much lactose
too fast (or for a baby who has been on antibiotics that have damaged the
brush border of the gut), but I don't think they will work on the protein. I
didn't hear her talk, so I might have missed something.

I've used Lactaid drops when I can get them for babies w/ symptoms of lactose
overload -- two drops prior to each breast and it seems to work very well.
Don't have to pump and treat the milk ahead of time. In lieu of the drops
which we usually can't get anymore (though I could check w/ our compounding
pharmacy down the road), I have the mom take the Lactaid capsules, divide
them in four, crush and mix w/ water, and give the baby the resulting sludge
(1/4 cap) just prior to a feed. That works too.
