Sara:  I would add to Maryelle Von Lanthen's post that there is no
chronic hepatitis A.  Unlike B and C, which in some people can persist
for years, hepatitis A is an acute illness which is over once the
symptoms and liver enzyme abnormalities are resolved.  So if this mother
had it 6 years ago, there is absolutely no need for concern.  Hope this
