Debbie, would this job not be suitable for IBCLCs? I ask only because I am
discouraged that US hospitals have by-and-large adopted the policy that
only IBCLCs with RNs can be hired. I'm old enough to have seen this cancer
spread, and now it is so entrenched that it seems "normal." It ISN'T
healthy for our profession, or for our professional credential, that we
have allowed this. IBCLCs worth their salt could step into any hospital and
provide great services.

Why not hire an IBCLC, and provide a door of opportunity. Maybe your
hospital can be the one that starts the process. Is there a shortage of
IBCLCs in your area?

Margery Wilson, IBCLC
(an old, experienced, non-RN LC)
