O couple of months ago, LACTNET published an regarding a mother being
evicted from the Crown food court in Melbourne Australia.  I wrote the
original piece which was reproduced on Lactnet as I was one of the woman
involved and my friend was the nursing mother.         I have actively
followed up on this issue with Christine Campbell, shadow minister for
women's issues in Victoria, and she has prepared a private members' bill
aimed at protecting breastfeeding mothers, which will go before state
pariament sometime this week.  The Bill seeks to amend the current EO laws.

I am asking all subscribers to Lactnet and their friends and colleagues in
Australia, and specifically Victoria, to voice their support for this bill
by writing or phoning newspapers, radio talkback and contacting their local
state MPs.  It is vital that the state government of Victoria is aware of
the level of support behind this proposed bill as without this feedback,
they can simply refuse to hear Christine Campbell's proposal.  I have the
names and contact details of all members of state parliment in Victoria, in
case anyone may be unaware of who their local member is, and I am happy to
be contacted directly on [log in to unmask] by anyone who wants more
information about this proposed bill.   There is a feature article on this
proposal in today's  Herald Sun (April 6), which I recomemnd people read.
