Re gassiness:
I too have experience with a gassy baby. We determined at 6 weeks of age
that this baby could not tolerate me eating dairy products, including all
hidden dairy products in foods. Elimination diet. In the evenings I would
have a nice warm bath and my husband would bring the baby into me. The baby
and I would have a relaxing bath together and then my hubby would take the
baby and dress him while I had a few quiet moments. I think the warm water
soothed his cramped tummy, he would often let off gas, and then have a good
nurse. The baby would then have a good sleep. I'm not sure who the bath
relaxed more me or the baby. It was an enjoyable, painless way to improve
our situation.

The other thing to consider with this mom is that she may be struggling with
the elimination diet. It is very easy to feel deprived by having to
eliminate dairy products. They seem to be everywhere. Helping her focus on
what she can eat, may be just the encouragement she needs.
