I first met Anna when she was pregnant with her fourth child
and learned that she had not been successful breastfeeding
her other children because they all had problems with
projectile vomiting after every feeding. She also told me her
mother in law could not breastfeed because of this same
problem (also 4 children, all fed on some type of gruel in
Italy)
After we talked about casein protein from dairy products that
can pass through breastmilk she agreed that she would cut
all dairy from her diet and try breastfeeding again.
She breastfed her fourth child for about four years with an
occasional episode of projectile vomiting when she tried to
reintroduce dairy products. In her family there was a definite
problem with dairy foods.
I have since seen her oldest daughter with her first baby and
she also had to make sure there was no dairy in her diet.
Interesting that it occurred in three generations.
Two of these women were told that their babies were allergic
to their milk.
