  If you can access the archives this has been discussed rather extensively.
The jist of which is that usually, especially where there are no other
confounding factors adn baby is thriving,. a benign situation. It can be
caused by cilla/it can be caused by irritation/ it appears to be self
limiting. The removal of dairy ( hidden ond overt) may or may not resolve the
situation.

  I belive that Jack suggested sun glasses when changing diapers so you can
not see the blood!
