I'm finding this "high needs" discussion very interesting, as three of my
four children were high needs babies. They were very intense, highly
sensitive and very irregular in their eating and sleeping. I also found that
separation was a huge issue for them - they needed to be with me (and
usually in contact with me) 24/7 for many years. While we do have a family
history of depression (including two relatives who committed suicide), these
three seem to have avoided it and have grown up to be quite happy, mentally
healthy and accomplished young adults. Just some words of encouragement for
parents of fussy babies!
