I'm confused!
Recently I attended a conference on feeding alternatives and we had a
brief discussion on *finger-feeding* This was highly discouraged due to
the lack of any research to prove its safety. I have used this method in
the past (short-term of course) toward reaching a final goal. I have
also used this method to asssess suck and tongue positioning.
I began to feel very badly that I have been using this technique of
finger-feeding, and had to re-think my methods and reasons behind using
various mehods. I was relieved to hear that others (from this list) do
use this method.
I would like to know if any of you out there are aware of any
research regarding finger-feeding.
Under what circumstances do you use finger feeding. What are the dangers
involved. Are there any documented cases of damage caused by
fingerfeeding. I have checked the archives for the above questions,
surprisingly found nothing. I am interested in your opinions: is
fingerfeeding controversial?
and should we proceed with caution until we more data to prove it's safety?
Thank you in advance I look forward to any comments on this issue.
