Hi,

I have had contact with a mom of a 5 month old baby, who states she had a palpable plugged duct two months ago which she felt resolved with heat, massage and frequent feeding. Since this time, she has had continuous deep, aching pain in the area where the plug existed and has been taking 400mg of ibuprofen 3 times per day - the pain is severe enough that she is unable to function without the anti inflammatories.

Mom reports no signs of malaise - no fever, heachache, body aches, etc etc. Despite this fact, I am wondering if this sounds like a possible breast infection, and if mom should be directed to take antibiotics at this point. Or...is this a simple plugged duct that never was really resolved?

Thank you for anything you can offer here. I appreciate it!
