Sounds good -  but what about fluoride in cities like mine where it is added
to the public  water system - to prevent cavities, of course. Any way to
remove the  fluoride? What will boiling do to the fluoride? AAP says no
fluoride  supplements for infants under 6 mos. Is there a difference  between
naturally-occurring fluoride and that which is added?
I have  searched the water reports for various cities in my Metro area and
found  that everyone has a different level. What's up with that? How do we
know  it's safe for use in formula?

I think the best recommendation you can make to mothers is to use bottled
distilled water.  If you look at the ingredients in the formula, they are
identical, regardless as to whether we are talking about concentrate, powder, or
RTF.  Therefore, the babies who are getting formula from concentrate or  powder
are getting a DIFFERENT formulation than babies getting RTF since the
formula will now have all the additives that are in the tap water -- including
flouride and anything else that may be in the water.  It would probably be
instructive to find out exactly what is in your city's water -- as Phyllis  pointed
out, the flouride levels are different in different parts of her metro  area.
What is safe?  Who knows?
I was looking at nursery water the other day, and it has flouride  added.
One of the bottles didn't say it on the front; I had to read the  back label
carefully to see that it was there.
