Any help would great!
I have been asked to attend the Protocol Group next Wednesday to challenge a
draft hypoglycaemia policy that goes totally against breastfeeding. Apart
from lumping together all babies whether there are risk factors or not, it
requires formula rather than EBM to be given by bottle rather or NG tube if
bedside result is less <2.6mmols/l.
(I think that is equivalent to 47mg/100mls?)
I searched the archives, have the WHO Review of the Literature, and
abstracts of latest from Jane Hawden, and Cornblath et al, the Acadamy of
B/f Medicine policy, plus a few Baby Friendly hypoglycaemia policies from
other Trusts. Any other sources or ideas or ANYTHING to back me up would be
greatly appreciated. I'm very nervous about talking to this group most of
whom probably wont even know what a lactation consultant is!!
