Happy New Year to all!
Just wanted to share the happy news my daughter's baby Emily has arrived
safely and healthy on December 28, and is three days old, happily nursing.
No pacifiers or bottles, and gained two ounces today on her mother's milk!
It is such a joy to see my own daughter nursing so well and so happy with
her baby. The baby looks just like her mother, by the way. It is an
overwhelming joy in our life. The baby was born at the hospital I work
at, and I got to be there every step of the birth. It was wonderful to be
surrounded by coworkers who are like family. I was around to help if
needed, and ended up helping almost every other mother these past days but
not needing to help her at all. She and her baby seemed to know what to do
right away. It must be all those years of exposure but probably just her
own good mother's instinct.
    Warm regards to all,
Ellen Mahony, RN, MS, IBCLC, LCCE
