I think this subject can be very much on-topic!

When faced with a newborn with a blocked nose, I have had great success 
with filling a 1cc syringe with breastmilk, getting baby to suck on 
mother's finger and squirting it down each of baby's nostrils as he sucks. 
No needle obviously!! And no need for suction at all.
