Today is the 100th anniversary of powered flight. The airplane was invented
by Wilbur and Orville Wright, who were born at home, breastfed, and owned a
bicycle shop here in Dayton. They transported their experimental flying
machine to a windy hill in North Carolina, where the first successful flight
took place. Dayton has been the center of a year-long celebration of
aviation.

Every time I get on an airplane to go to a breastfeeding conference,
speaking engagement, family event, vacation, etc, I thank Orville and Wilbur
AND their parents. Bishop Wright and his wife fostered their children's
creative endeavors, supported their work, and maintained warm close ties
with their sons over many years.

This is only slightly "off topic" because without the global travel now
possible because of these two remarkable men, their parents who supported
them, and many others who followed, the BF community today would be mighty
small. Thanks to air travel, we are more able to support, protect, and
promote breastfeeding around the world.
