In regards to alcohol and breastfeeding, Nikkie Lee is right when she says:

Where is the evidence for this oft-repeated dictum: "I usually still

tell them wait at least 2 hours after each drink."

Yes, I agree. The evidence is that telling moms to wait about 2 hours for every drink is probably overkill. But I'm just a little concerned with potential consequences of telling moms it's fine to go ahead breastfeed after several drinks, so I'm finding myself struggling with what to say.

How about something like "the prevailing advice is to wait about 2 hours for every drink you have but even this is probably overly cautious. But I don't recommend that you breastfeed or are responsible for caring for the baby when you are in an impaired state."

What does everyone think of phrasing it like that?

Thanks for your input. It's always appreciated.
