Well, it seems Jeffrey received the same e-mail I did, and was going to ask
the question while leaving the source anonymous. Anyway, since I had a few
clarification-type questions in the post I was going to send, here it is:

We all know smoking while breastfeeding is not a good idea. However, I have
been asked to provide references to show exactly how smoking affects a
breastfed infant, particularly: how much nicotine gets into the baby? (I
thought it wasn't all that much) and what effects does second-hand smoke
have?

If a mother smokes outdoors or away from her baby, is this significantly
better for the baby's health?

I know most of the answers, like increased ear infections, respiratory
diseases, slow weight gain, etc., but I would like citations, preferably
from primary sources if at all possible. I have all the info LLL puts out
on the topic.
