When I worked at a hospital in illinois around 10 years ago, we routinely
billed for OP visits and IP visits. The last place I worked in Metro Chicago from
98-01 did as well but I don't know how much or if they were reimbursed. I'm
pretty sure that many in the Chicago area do. I don't know reimbursement issues
or payor mix. I also know that some DO charge for daily pump use, ala IV or
PCA pumps. I can see both sides of that issue. Maybe some of my friends from IL
will chime in on this?  Oh and a family told me this week that their Michigan
insurance (HAP) is paying for pump rental for a 30 weeker. Hurray!
