The amount of sage that I recommend and the way of administering it are:

1/4 tsp of dried sage (If it has been in the spice cupbord for a long time,
get a new box) 3 times a day until she notices a reduction. Stop the sage
and see if she needs to resume it, or if her supply continues to go down.

I have had no one over-do the treatment with a compromised milk supply.

We have tried several methods of taking it in, as it has a taste and feel
that most women wouldn't want to just eat. One woman who was weaning,
tried it in her Diet Coke. I didn't disolve, just floated on the top in a
most unappetizing manner. She then tried stirring it into vegetable juice,
with better results. Finally she took it the way that I've found the
simplest.

Put 1/4 tsp. of powdered sage on a small corner of a sandwich with a sticky
filling. Break off that corner and pop it into the mouth, swallowing
without chewing, then drink some juice. (Or Diet soda if she isn't
breastfeeding... Nutrasweet creates GI cramping in most babies) Repeat 3 X
a day until you notice a reduced supply.

Parsley and Peppermint are also anti-galactagogues. One mother added fresh
parsley to her regimen. Another used Altoids (breath mints) along with the
sage.

I hope someone tells this mother about lecethin gelcaps for her plugged
ducts, if she continues to be susceptible. 1 gelcap 3-4 times a day.
