I had one just like that!  He just loved to be stimulated all of the time.  He is 
VERY smart (13 years old).  He loved to play with the nursing necklaces when 
he was eating.  Here is a link to one of the sites:

I am not endorsing any necklace...but he seemed to like the ones with the 
animals.  Even at 13, he still likes for me to "rub his back" when he is going to 
sleep!
