Thank you to all you wonderful people out there who have
supported my management of the engorged client case. I
definately feel better. The follow on story is that I met one of the
midwives at the pool on monday who told me that she had rung her
old hospital and spoken to the LC there who told her that my
management was incorrect and that a once off expression (total)
was it, no more. But hear this. Some of you already know this.
My husband is a GP and does obstetrics. Anyway, he has a post
natal lady in hospital at present and guess what, she is engorged
(what are they doing there). She told him that she had this
problem with her first baby and was told not to express but this
time the staff told her that "Dr Bests wife said we have to this" and
they are doing what I said. So blow me down but they may not like
my management, but they are obvioulsy prepared to listen to me,
al beit behind my back, but it gets back to me of course!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway thanks again. The follow up is that the client is
breastfeeding successfully now, still has heaps of milk, but
manageable now.
