Subject: web page no-no

The organization I work for has a web page that makes me cringe everytime I
open it. I work for Brockton Area Multiservices, Inc. and it has a baby
being fed a bottle by a man as part of a slide show.

It is also the first slide that is seen when the page is opened. Check it
out.

I'm afraid to make waves. Anyone have any suggestions as to how I might
approach this.

Ilene,

I wrote a comment back to BAMSI (unfortunately I lost the copy when trying
to forward it to you) suggesting they substitute the man bottle feeding the
baby to one of a woman breastfeeding with her family gathered around. I
told them that the image was not consistent with their mission statement
next to it (BAMSI is a private, non-profit corporation dedicated to
improving the quality of life and sense of self-worth for individuals and
families in Massachusetts.) and how breastfeeding fits perfectly with their
mission. The banner above the photo reads "Human Rights 101". I reminded
them that the most basic human right is that of a baby to receive his
mother's milk.

Since they ask for comments, I suggest breastfeeding advocates write letters
to them, especially ones from Massachusetts. I forgot to remind them in my
comments that Boston, one of the communities it serves, has one of the few
certified Baby Friendly Hospitals in the country.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, Ilene.
