Rachel hit on an important point here. This is starting to remind of a something I heard about in LLL years ago. The Leader was talking about a mother she had come across (seen her not as a Leader but to sell her a sling). I don’t remember if she was a group mom also or what – but the Leader had known the mother for some time if I remember right. The mom showed her the baby and asked if the baby looked ‘okay’ the mother also stated the ped had seen the baby and felt the baby was okay. The baby seemed very thin to the Leader (underweight and not too well). Her feeling was if the ped was involved it must be her perception and the baby was getting better. Since she and this mom had the same ped at an appointment for her own child she asked the ped about this mom’s baby, it looked a bit underweight but if he was seeing the baby she guessed it was okay. The ped then stated he hadn’t seen the baby – she brought in her older child and asked about the baby, to him the baby sounded fine. It turned out the mom was following Ezzo – when they really stressed not to talk to LC’s or Leaders or to tell the their ped they were following this plan. She had to report the mom to Child Protective Services since she was sticking to the schedule no matter what and ignoring signs her baby wasn’t doing well.

The mom was asking for advice but not really letting anyone see the baby for an evaluation so she could feel was doing what was right for the baby. This really needs to be pushed that something isn’t right and someone needs to see this baby, talk to the docs involved and proceed from there. JMHO
