If I were to write an ad or and article it would include something like this:

We should reduce environmental toxins because it affects the most vulnerable, unborn children
and young infants.

1 out of ..... children are at risk of neurological impairment. if women are exposed to substance X
during pregnancy
1 out of ..... children will be at risk of neurological impairment, if women are exposed to
substance X and breastfeed for ... months.

Women should to breastfeed because fewer children are at risk if they are breastfed longer, only:

1 out of .... children will be at risk of neurological impairment if women are exposed to substance
X and continue to breastfeed for 1 year or more

And because infants who are not breastfed have, on average. an IQ that is 10 points lower.

And I would certainly make sure the typeface for the lower risks for longer breastfeeding were
more visible than the risks from toxins, instead of in small print.
