So now there is a delay because of complaints from bottle feeding
moms? Since the general public isn't even aware of such a campaign,
it seems to me there is only one way such moms could have gotten
wind of it and been "organized" to mount such a campaing and that's
from those who have $$$ reasons for opposing it!
I wonder if the best defense against this isn't more letters from
those of us who may be perceived as having a "vested interest" in
the campaign, but from moms "on the other side". IMO we should get
moms who opted to bottle feed because they were led to believe there
really wasn't any significant difference and either had babies that
had obvious problems with formula or where mom simply resented,
after learning the real differences, that she was prevented from
making a truly informed choice.

I think maybe I should write a letter to those doing the Back to
Sleep campaign complaining that the ads make me feel guilty for
putting my kids to sleep on their tummies all those years! After
all, it didn't do them any harm, so back off already and stop trying
to make me feel guilty. (TIC) I do wonder if there was any concern
about parents who lost babies to SIDS back when we didn't think
sleeping position made any difference. I'm sure some of them may
have felt guilty and wondered if putting their baby to sleep on its
back would have prevented the tragedy. The BTS campaign went on in
spite of this because those in charge really believed it did make a
difference. I think this is where the problem lies with the
breastfeeding ad campaign-the decision makers don't REALLY believe
there is a significant difference!
