As I see it, the question is should IBCLCs and others concerned with the
protection promotion and support of breastfeeding have commercial
relationships with code violators? >>

Nina,

Are you suggesting that all IBCLCs in the US that are employed by hospitals,
WIC clinics, pediatrician's offices, and the like, quit their jobs?

That is what I am reading into your post.

As I said in a previous post, virtually all hospitals, peds offices, OB
offices and WIC clinics are Code violators.

If we are not to have "commercial relationships" with code violators, then
that is what you are implying.

What will happen to all those mothers and babies?

I can get a lot done without having a relationship with Medela, who, when it
comes to Code violations is a minor player in the scheme of things in the
US. Visit almost any US hospital, clinic, physician's office (present company
excepted, I'm sure), and you will see Code violations up the wazoo.

I do not think that quitting my job (for a peds office), or leaving a
hospital, or ceasing to work for a WIC clinic is in the best interest of mothers
and babies -- nor for myself or my family.
