<From KB: "I know that we have received negative feedback on the fact that
Lactnet

these cases.

From Pat: "I personally think it is an important part of this list to get to
know each other and support each other in our work AND in our lives. That's
what "networking" is for.

I agree, Pat. I also tend to think that when a "lurker" (I'm sorry, I don't
know if there's a more appropriate word for the very many who read these
posts but usually don't actively participate in discussions - and I mean NO
disrespect!) has an issue with something that is being discussed here, they
should post to the list and let us know. Rather than "complaining" to the
listmother, I mean.

When I have an issue with colleagues in a meeting, or if a meeting has
veered way off track and I feel like it's wasting my valuable time, I share
those concerns with the group. Or, if it happens frequently enough to
interfere with benefits I get from participating, I leave. Or, if it's just
an occasional thing, sometimes I just wait till the "digression" passes.

I have no problem with those who prefer to just read and learn, or who may
feel overwhelmed by us noisier ones, or who are just shy. But I have a hard
time understanding why those who don't participate actively should attempt
to control the direction of discussion by complaining to the listmother/s.
Why not just post to the group (or to an individual, if more appropriate)
and say "we're digressing, let's bring it back to lactation"?

I understand issues of cost r/t receiving/sending messages - but is it any
less expensive to post to the list than to a listmother?

I truly do NOT mean any disrespect to anyone - lurkers, protestors,
listmothers, fellow rowdies, anyone who might read these words - but I don't
quite get it.
