I am finding this thread quite amusing - trying to picture all these
designs and colours of hospital gowns with slits and snaps, etc etc.

Unless things have changed recently (as I don't work in a hospital),
in Australia mothers in hospital wear their own nighties or pyjamas -
not hospital-supplied gowns. When I had my babies, I was instructed
to bring an old nightie to labour in - one that didn't matter if it
got messed up with blood, etc, and a few others to wear in the
postpartum ward, along with maternity bras, a supply of breast pads,
etc. I expect that those having surgical procedures, such as
caesareans probably wear some sort of hospital gown, but not mothers
having 'normal' deliveries.

Is it universal in US to have mothers wearing hospital-supplied
garments the whole time they are there?

Joy
