"Duration of exclusive breastfeeding has a significant impact on cognitive
development without compromising growth among children born SGA. These data
suggest that mothers should breastfeed exclusively for 24 wk to enhance
cognitive development."

Thanks for posting this. I am jsut extremely struck by the use of '24
weeks'. If we are talking about roughly 6 months' exlcusive breastfeedign
as the norm, where does 24 weeks come from? Here in the UK, where official
weaning recommendations have been 4-6 months for some time, the word on the
street (or rather in the child health clinic) is 'wait until/ start at 16
weeks. There have beensome articles recently saying '4 months isn't 16
weeks'. Well, 6 months isn't 24 weeks. What's with this? Not only
inaccurate, but tending to portray a prcisiion which is unhelpful.
