Who knew (purple) duct tape was the key to a happy family? ha ha
I don't understand these 2 extremes, either. Distant from the baby so as not to spoil them, then hovering too much during the childhood years. I read in a Ladies Home Journal several years ago that mothers who know they are returning to work often hold back on their bonding in anticipation of the pain of separation from the baby during the work day. Wish I had saved that article. Sometimes I give parents permission to keep baby close with the following words 'You've been waiting 9 months for your baby - enjoy him/her!'
