Here is what Dr. Hale has noted:  Tegretol
                         Generic= Carbamazepine
                          Category= Anticonvulsant
Small amounts secreted (2.3 mg./ L milk).  Levels in infant are generally
less than 1 microgram/ mL plasma and have not been found to produce toxicity
in infant.  Accumulation does not seem to occur.  Compatible in nursing
mothers with observation.  Observe infant for sedation.  AAP Compatible with
breastfeeding.

     On a personal note, my sister has epilepsy with grand mal seizures and
takes this dosage of Tegretol (1000 mg.).  She took this when she breastfed
all 3 of her children without any noticeable effect to the infants.  Hope
this helps.
