Our infection control department insisted we use dish soap for washing pump parts. We keep a small bottle of dish soap in every patient room. Pump parts are washed by mom in room and then exchanged for a new sterilized set once a day. Our hospital provides the pump parts in hospital and they are sterilized an the central processing department.

I worry about the use of hand soap or antibacterial hand soaps and how they could affect the plastics of the pump parts. Also, dish soap is readily available and relatively inexpensive.
