Not looking for much in the way of help just needed to vent.

I have a client who has received so much bad info. She was on antibiotics
for "mastitis" which was likely thrush, Nilstat for baby x3 per day with
nothing for mum, antimicrobial for UTI which doc told her not to nurse baby
for hours after taking it. Then when she went back to doc to discuss
getting treatment for thrush - OB said see the GP, Peds said she will feel
better when thrush gone so just give Nilstat 4X per day without tx for mum,
Oh and give pablum to 3 week old who is nursing more freq (growth spurt!)GP
at clinic said she could use some of the sticky nilstat on her breasts if
she wants tx. At least mum knew that pablum advise was nuts.

Mum has no nipple pain so that is good. Breast pain is resolving. Then
she hears from w/i clinic that she needs Cipro and must wean temporarily.
Mum very concerned and was up all night worrying. She doesn't want to wean
at all but is afraid to get treated and is afraid of getting sicker.
AAAHHHGGG!!!

So off I go with GV and cipro info. I chat with the mum and then I go to
doc and get him to switch to norfloxicin. Go to pharmacy and she refused
to fill the prescription if mum is bf. Almost strangled her right there.
I had Jack's book and Tom's M & MM in front of her and she still wouldn't
budge. Told me that unless I had info that said that no drug is detectible
in milk at 800 mg per day, she won't fill it. I restated the info and she
said that is just my opinion. She tells me to go find another pharmacist!
AAAAAAHHGGGGG!!

So back to mum. She now has a prescription but has to find a pharmacist
who will fill it. We talked about her options.

Can't wait till Jack is back next week. It has been a long month without
you Jack.
