Hello all!
I just spoke to a friend who works on Capitol Hill for a Congressman. I will
not say which side of the isle she works for and it does not really matter.
Anyhow, she said that she works on women's issues but when we started to
talk about birth issues, she did not seem particularly knowledgeable or
moved as to the current birth climate. So, I would like to send her a packet
to read with information on Maternal and infant morbidity and mortality,
politics of birth, ACOG, Midwiffery model vs Medical model and how all of
that relates to women and children's health. Also, I would LOVE to get some
breastfeeding info in there too especially regarding the breastfeeding
campaign, Tommy Thomson and the AAP. I think I still have the letter from
the formula co. lawyer to Tommy T. but I will take any info anyone has.

So, I am asking if you will help me come up with information to send her. It
all has to be well documented and professional. We were roomates in college
and I don't think my belief in something is enough to sway her! So feel free
to email me if you have any info to share with those guys and gals making
our laws and I will package it all up and send it to her. I can not do this
alone, because I have too much on my plate already. But together, maybe we
can make a difference. Maybe this could be something we could all send out
to our congress people and representatives and start a mailing campaign.
Please pass this on to anyone else who might want to help.

It might be helpful to also have information on how things are done in other
contries and how changes have been successfully implemented in other places.

Thank you,
