Yes, I checked the archives; this one seems to be as new to Lactnet as it is
to me.

Had a call from mother of four yr old who nurses approx. 1-2 per day. She
indicated that she wanted scientific data on effects on nursing child from
maternal ingestion of LSD. She related that she has not taken the drug since
conception but wishes to do so in the near future. I immediately advised as
the LEAST precaution that someone else care for the child if mother choose to
do this. Daughter will be in care of family member for at least 24 hours
after ingestion so there is no risk of nursing during that time. What is the
half-life? This woman did not care to hear my personal opinion; she seriously
wants the hard data if any exists. I am such a big proponent of informed
consent in many ways that this threw me for a loop and I had to examine my
priorities. My conclusion is this: this mother came to me for information to
better make a decision for her child, NOT to hear my personal opinion. I want
to give unjudgemental answers here.

Any info or experience with this situation will be greatly appreciated. Post
to Lactnet, please, so this will be archived in the future.
