It is with sincere regret that the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners accepts the resignation of JoAnne W. Scott, MA, IBCLC, IBLCE's inaugural and only Executive Director, due to health reasons. JoAnne's resignation is effective from March 4th, however she will continue to do project work for IBLCE, as she is able. JoAnne will have lead the organization for just 4 days short of 20 years from its inception on the 9th March 1985, and has been employed as Executive Director since 6th October 1985. Over that time there has been an incredible growth, both in numbers of IBCLCs and the credential's international acceptance, due to JoAnne's vision, persistence, and hard work. She will be missed by the Board and IBLCE staff for her knowledge, wisdom, compassion and caring. 

 

The IBLCE Board will meet in February to begin the process of finding a new Executive Director. From now, until that appointment is made, Ros Escott B AppSc, IBCLC will take on the role of Interim Executive Director. Ros will be temporarily relocating from Tasmania, Australia to the IBLCE Central Office in Falls Church VA to fulfill this role. Ros has been involved with the IBLCE since 1991. Initially she was a member of the IBLCE Board and then Regional Administrator for the Asia Pacific Region and Assistant Executive Director for the Regions. She is the person within the organization with the corporate memory and specialist knowledge that will enable IBLCE to continue to function efficiently and effectively.
