Monique,

I have been lurking for a while. But had to respond! I am a registered
dietitian (X15 years, lactation educator (X10 years). One of my hats is
working as a dietitian for the OB Clinic (Sweet Success & High Risk clinic)
and lactation educator for our local hospital.

I would not recommend the "macrobiotic/vegan" breast milk substitute. There
is NO substitute for colostrum and this formula substitute has some
substances that could promote allergies in infants less than a year old. The
other issue is that it does not appear to be adequate in the essential
nutrients that breast milk would provide It would be risky to recommend
something of this nature without a pediatrician to back you up. The baby
would be much safer supplemented with a commercial formula.
