Okay, I could be TOTALLY wrong here, but my Catholic upbringing and
education was based quite heavily on Natural Law philosophy.  Since
lactational amenorrhea is a total NATURAL consequence of nursing, I
can't imagine how it could possibly go against the teaching of the
Catholic Church.  I suggest checking with the bishop's office in your
town.  The nurse? who complained sounds like she heard the words
"birth control" and went ballistic.  The Catholic Church is against
artificial birth control and lactation is certainly not artificial.
