Dear Kathy, New moms are the rawest form of beginners that there is!  And
yes, they need/crave/depend on  numbers.  We just have to make the
guidelines loose enough to not scare the wits out of her, but at the same
time specific so mom knows when it's not enough.  Some moms like a sheet to
keep track on, very reassuring, especially for  first time moms.  I always
use the line "what goes in, must come out" so they get the idea that by
