Dear Friends:
     I am working with a mother who is amazing. She had a pitocin-driven
labor, with an epidural and pushed baby out in 3 hours. OB gave a medial
episiotomy; she is unable to sit. She also has inverted and dimpled nipples.
The nipple will erect out of its pocket, and the tip is definitely dimpled or
beginning to be bifurcated.
     Her baby latches on beautifully, drives the little chin into the breast
and moves the milk. This mother wants to breastfeed because "it is best for
my baby."
     I want to give her an Olympic gold medal and an Oscar. I've never
encountered a situation that promised to be so dreadful that has turned out
so well.
     It can happen. I wish I could bottle her heart and give doses of it to
other mothers.
