Your question "Am I making sense?"

Yes but perhaps it would be more effective to present research re the
physiology of normal infant sleep cycles, frequent emptying of the stomach
(already mentioned by Susan Burger) and reduction in the risk of SIDS.

Conclusions: More sleep was obtained when breastfeeding mothers slept with
the newborn. Methods or devices that allow breastfeeding mothers and
newborns to sleep next to each other in complete safety need to be developed.
