I think that this tack, focusing on babies' instincts, is a very
positive thing for the moms to hear. Too often I hear things in the
first days pp like, "Oh, I can totally see his personality already:
stubborn and lazy." (!!!) So I approach it as, "Babies are born to be
breastfed, and generally our job is just to get the obstacles out of
their way." It seems to help to convince moms who had epidurals to do
s2s and so on, without inadvertently communicating to them that they did
something less-than-ideal by having the epi.

Actually, this was the case with the mom of the "stubborn and lazy"
baby, and I'll admit to cracking and saying, "He's not stubborn and
lazy! He's *drugged*!" But there were lots of other frustrating
factors in that case : /
