I'm feeling very lucky. I've received many summons, but I started out
first with "I'm breastfeeding a baby", "I'm breastfeeding and also have a
toddler", "I am the sole caretaker of pre-school aged children during the
day", "I have school aged children whom I care for", and also "can't
afford daycare; we are a one income family (that's the truth! I've only
started earning $$ the last couple of years, and it certainly doesn't
support the family!). In my county, you can be excused if you have
elementary school aged children whom you care for, and I am grateful! I
was never called for jury duty BC, but get something in the mail every
year since! The only jury that isn't sympathetic is the grand jury, which
also requires traveling south 3 hrs to attend! I don't know what I'd do
if I got one of those with a nursing babe, glad I never did! I've known
husbands who served in their wive's places.
