Dear Lactnet Friends,

Did the subject line interest you? I was approached by a coworker who
recently had a hysterectomy for fibroids. She says that 1-2 days after
the surgery, her breasts were engorged. Her children are teens now and
although she breastfed them, it was years ago. She mentioned it to her
doctor and he pooh-poohed it. She knows what engorgement feels like and
said that she could express milk. Of course, she did not stimulate the
milk supply and it went away of its own accord. Has anyone else heard
anything like this? She wanted an explanation and I couldn't give her
one.

Oh those crazy hormones! Mary Alice Tinari, MSN, IBCLC Huntingdon
