Diane,

There were a couple of articles in 1999 that suggested that babies fed
formula lowered their bilirubins more quickly.  Unfortunately, as usual,
they did not look at whether the babies were actually breastfeeding, or
pretending to breastfeed. In the Tan article, he mentions that because the
babies were going to breast very often it was obvious they were getting
plenty of colostrum.  Oh, why don't they ever have people doing these
studies that know something about breastfeeding!!!
