Andrew:
I recently reviewed the breastfeeding and renal failure literature - what
little there was was ALL someone's opinion and speculation - not one actual
research study on any changes in BM composition with dialysis or other renal
patients. The article quoted most frequently is : Brookhyser J and Wiggins K.
medical Nutrition Therapy in Pregnancy and Kidney Disease. Advances in Renal
Replacement Therapy. 1998; 5(1): 53-63. The part that refers to breastfeeding
on page 62 gives references. When you actually read the primary references,
they are opinions, not research.
She should breastfeed! (Was that OK Jack?)
