Hi All,

    I need some more ideas!

I have a mom that has a wonderfully healthy 2 month old girl who refuses the
bottle. The parents werent very diligent in getting her to take one, and
now mom is faced with returning to work in a couple of weeks. I have agreed
to see what I could do, tho it is definitely not my area of expertise. I
have tried all different bottles and flow rates. (breastflow, ventair,
playtex, avent, adiri, dr.brown.........latex nipples, silicone nipples,
wide mouth and narrow mouth.) She needs a slow flow and a soft short teat.
She gags on anything faster than slow flow, and gags on long nipples. I use
various holds, distraction, calming, have tried when she is just getting up
and groggy, to hungry, to fast asleep. Outside, inside, rocking, shishing,
snuggling closely, tummy to tummy, back to chest.........in a box, with a
fox. (ok, not in a box or with a fox!)

Tomorrow I am going to try a tiny nurser bottle with a hospital nipple. I
am also considering taking a nipple shield with me to see if she will latch
on to mom with the shield, and then maybe take a bottle?

Do I need to stay long enough for 2 feedings? I am considering offering to
babysit for them and let them go out to dinner and a movie. Any suggestions
would be greatly appreciated!

PS. Have fun at ILCA....... all you who are going! I will miss not getting
to see everyone!
