how about the "small print" that starts with "breastmilk is best for babies"- it includes "good maternal nutrition is important for preparation and maintainance of breastfeeding....introduction of partial bottlefeeding could negatively affect breastfeeding and reversing a decision to not breastfeed is difficult...social and financial implications should be considered when selecting a method of infant feeding."
if financial implications were the *only* consideration, no one would choose to not breastfeed...and these formula manufacturers would love to see bottle feeding the only socially "normal" and acceptable way to feed.
~Vicki Hayes RN IBCLC in WA (whose son Sean, 5 1/2, last night at bedtime picked up two of his little brothers' teddy bears, lifted up his shirt, and tandem nursed them in football holds.... then told me "That's not fair!!" when he asked me if he could nurse Lachlan and when I told him no, I'm the only one with milk in my breasts)
