If he's crampy and colicky after bf, accompanied by weird stools, he
could be allergic to ANYTHING in mom's diet - probably she should see a
dietitian or someone who could help her work on that. Wheat is a very
common allergen.
Also,  I think they can do some sort of allergy test for the baby; I know
that in the past docs only did allergy tests on older kids, but I have
heard parents say that they have had allergy tests for their bf infants.
This may at least help point mom in the right direction if she really
wants to keep bf - usually if the infant allergy tests turn out positive,
these children are tested again when they get older. That's what my
patients tell me, anyway.  My understanding is that the test for older
kids is more accurate.
Allergies can be VERY tricky and elusive.
