Does anyone believe that this particular NSAID is better than any other?
Would a conscientious physician prescribe for a mother a drug the effects of
which he does not know? No! So why this particular drug, when there are
about two million different NSAID's on the market which are essentially the
same from the therapeutic point of view, but about which we know more than
this one? Ibuprofen is perfectly acceptable for breastfeeding mothers, and,
at least in Canada, is an over the counter drug. Ketorolac is also likely
to be quite safe during breastfeeding.

Jack Newman, MD, FRCPC
